Part 2 of my Mixed Media and Collage Class.

I have to say that doing a class like this is so rewarding. The students were so pumped up. I had the feeling that after I rather quickly demoed how to make a landscape collage out of our hand altered papers, they were empowered. So many commented that the process was addictive and fun. And I think there were some who actually understood why I seldom throw anything out...You just never know when you will need a Dove foil wrapper from a delectable chocolate!
Enjoy the little slide show. I will have to upload a better shot of my landscape plus I have a landscape that I demoed in class that needs a few more details on it before it is finished. These have been so much fun!

Thanks Lorrie and Lucy. It has been very rewarding as you both know because u both teach as well. It makes such a big difference teaching in an environment where peole come and pay because they love art unlike say highschool . Thanks for the opportunity Lucy. I am glad we can help eachother.

Hi Kathy!

Thank you for sharing your gifts and inspiring some of your students to explore Mixed media further. Today Kim and I spent a couple hours as we set about making papers for future collages...

One question for you: We took paper bags and did the gesso treatment on them. It appears the gesso we used was "clear gesso"...It went on white but has dried clear. So I am wondering what is going to happen when we go to paint over it? What we used in class dried white, did it not?

Your not so quick to catch on student,

Brandie :)

This is not only empowering to students, you have given me courage to make something myself. I really love what your students made, and your example, too.
